Megan is a healthcare problem solver and founder of PCC.
Hey there! I’m Megan- your compassionate healthcare advocate, equipped with a nursing and public health background. The spark of my problem-solving passion ignited during my early nursing days when I recognized patients experiencing suboptimal care. Witnessing the struggles my own family members faced during illness brought to light the daunting journey that many patients endure when navigating these complex systems alone. This experience fueled my commitment to becoming a guiding light for individuals facing similar problems in an overcomplicated system.
I'm all about empowering YOU with knowledge, untangling the web of complexities, and being your unwavering support during your healthcare journey. Together, we'll conquer the confusing bits, decode treatment options, and bring a glimmer of hope to even the most challenging situations. When I'm not championing healthcare, you might find me mastering the art of chocolate chip cookies or going for a jog with my dog. Thank you for being here, and I can't wait to embark on this meaningful journey by your side.
Growing up, helping others was ingrained into my character. My family was always volunteering for things through our church and it wasn't long before helping wasn't a task, but rather second nature to me and my siblings.
When I got to college, I knew helping people was something that would somehow play into my role as part of society, but I wasn't sure how. I got my first bachelors degree in Kinesiology, thinking this would set me up for some kind of further education, but when I graduated I still wasn't sure. So I stayed for my masters, where I really found my passion in Public Health. During grad school I worked multiple jobs; I got my EMT certification, I worked in a clinic as a phlebotomist and I worked second shift at the nursing home. This is where I discovered my love for patient care. When my masters was complete and I had to quit these jobs I was truly saddened at the idea of not working directly with people…. Enter nursing school.
I applied at the last minute to a nursing program and to my surprise I got in!
Entering the nursing field with expectations to help everyone I encountered quickly burned me out. I felt like no one actually got everything they needed and I saw holes in the system we had been trained from childhood to trust. Professionally, I felt like healthcare was overcomplicated. Personally, I experienced just that when my father-in-law's health declined. I was utterly shocked at just how hard everything was to navigate- even for me as a nurse!
Seeing and experiencing first hand just how complex simple things had to be really broke my heart. After working for a system that was designed solely to help people I felt like there needed to be more education, empowerment and advocacy for our patients! And that’s what I’ve made my life's mission. To quit playing “pass the problem” and empower patients to seek the quality of healthcare they deserve.
My purpose is to stand by individuals during their most challenging moments. The healthcare system should prioritize the well-being of each patient, yet regrettably, this isn't always the reality. This is where I come in. Having personally experienced your struggles, I empathize with your journey. That is precisely why I’ve dedicated my life’s purpose to guiding you through these difficult times, ensuring you access to the healthcare, knowledge, and resources that you rightly deserve.
